Remains found in suitcase on New South Wales roadside not human

<p>Suspected human remains found in a discarced suitcase by the side of a regional road in New South Wales have turned out to be a life-like doll. </p> <p>A major police operation kicked into gear on Sunday, when a suitcase with decomposed remains inside was found by two members of the public at Oallen, about 60km southeast of Goulburn, just before 1pm.</p> <p>Police on Monday morning said they believed the remains belonged to a woman, prompting a major police response and forensic examination of the scene.</p> <p>Superintendent Linda Bradbury later announced forensic investigations had ruled out that the remains belonging to a human. </p> <p>"We are still undertaking more forensic work to identify what they are, but we can identify that they are not human," she told reporters in Goulburn.</p> <p>"They were mistaken for a human originally, so they are very realistic in the term of looking like human remains ... but we have confirmed they are not."</p> <p>Police this afternoon confirmed the item located inside the bag was a life-like doll, wearing clothing, with hair and a nose piercing. </p> <p>"The item also had markings that resembled bruises and grazes," police added. </p> <p>Investigations had now concluded. </p> <p>The discovery was initially made by two men who had stopped on the side of the road while out for a weekend drive.</p> <p>Oallen in the Southern Tablelands region of NSW, is about 109km northeast of Canberra and 225km southwest of Sydney.</p> <p><i>- Addtional reporting by AAP</i></p>
