The highly anticipated rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been pushed to early 2027 due to technical disagreements. Pacquiao is considering exhibition matches against Ryan Garcia or Rolly Romero in the interim.

The long-awaited sequel to Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. has a new target date.

The CEO of Pacquiao's MP Promotions, Jas Mathur, has revealed that the Filipino boxing icon is now looking at an early 2027 timeframe for his blockbuster rematch against Mayweather.

"Obviously, right now there's some technicalities that are unrelated to Manny and unrelated to us that are being resolved," Mathur said during a press event on Monday afternoon. "Once that's all said and done, then we anticipate that this should take place sometime in early 2027, January is the plan."

The rematch of boxing's richest fight was originally slated for September, but was postponed following a disagreement between the two camps. Pacquiao's side firmly held that the bout should be contested as a sanctioned professional fight, while his arch-rival's team insisted on an exhibition.

Mathur added that the bout will take place in the 153- to 154-pound super welterweight range. However, he declined to divulge specific details regarding the venue or streaming partners.

Before the mega-fight takes place, the 47-year-old eight-division world champ intends to stay sharp. According to Mathur, Pacquiao is eyeing a warm-up exhibition bout for the final quarter of 2026.

"Ryan Garcia? Possibility, yes. We've also brought that up," Mathur revealed. "Ryan has another fight, so, you know, everything's on the table. It's all on the table. Ryan will fight Manny, Manny will fight Ryan. Rolly [Romero] will fight Manny, Manny will fight Rolly."

"All of these people are on the table. It's not an issue, but we have to focus on what's in front of us right now," Mathur added. "Like I said earlier, we want to break records."

- JMB GMA News
