Sacred Tiruvallikeni kshetram

Sacred temples glorified through the Mangalasasanam of the Azhwars are known as Divya Desams, said Akkarakani Srinidhi in a discourse. The very purpose of our birth is to render kainkaryam (selfless service) to the Lord. Our service to the Lord can be offered in three ways — through the mind, speech and body. Tiruvallikeni Divya Desam is also known as Brindaranyam, meaning “the sacred Tulasi forest.” The temple tank is called Kairaveni Pushkarani, which contains five sacred tirthas — Indra Tirtha, Meena Tirtha, Soma Tirtha, Agni Tirtha and Vishnu Tirtha. The temple houses five principal sanctums: Lord Parthasarathy, Lord Ranganatha, Lord Rama, Lord Narasimha (Thelliya Singar), and Lord Gajendra Varada. The greatness of this sacred kshetram is described by Lord Shiva Himself to sage Narada, and the Brahmanda Purana dedicates 10 chapters to its glory.
