The new VESA certification requires roughly 40% more brightness than the previous certification, corresponding to around 1,400 nits peak brightness in a 10% window of the screen while maintaining perfect blacks. Samsung claims that its new panels can even reach peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits in a smaller window size.
