Shifting political views don't need to spell the end of a relationship

Experts suggest that while political differences can be a "deal breaker" if they reflect deeper moral misalignments, they don't necessarily have to end a relationship. A survey by Relationships Australia found that 23% of Australians report differing values, including political ones, are pressuring their relationships. This phenomenon is on the rise, with about half of Australian couples being "politically mismatched" during the 2022 federal election, especially among younger people.
