The Supreme Court on Tuesday (August 4, 2026) issued notice to the Union government while hearing writ petitions filed by serving Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) officers who have challenged the recently enacted Central Armed Police Force (General Administration) Act, 2026 . The lead petitioner in the case is Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Assistant Commandant Bibhor Kumar Singh, a Shaurya Chakra awardee who lost both his legs in an anti-Maoist operation in Bihar in 2022.
