Swell waves likely along coast of Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday
The National Centre for Oceanographic Studies and Research has issued a high-swell wave alert for the Thiruvananthapuram coast. Residents and fishermen are advised to avoid coastal areas and sea-based activities until the warning is lifted.
The coastal areas of Thiruvanathapuram district are likely to experience the ‘kallakkadal‘ phenomenon – the sudden swell of the seas causing rough waves – on Tuesday. Issuing alerts to fishermen and coastal residents, the National Centre for Oceanographic Studies and Research (INCOIS) has informed that, as part of the swell surge, waves ranging in height from 1.0 to 1.6 meters and sea erosion are likely along the coasts from Kappil to Pozhiyur in Thiruvananthapuram district till 11.30 pm on Tuesday.
