BJP State unit president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday (July 27, 2026) questioned the TVK-led Tamil Nadu government on whether it would release a White Paper on the number of State-run retail liquor outlets, also known as TASMAC shops. Referring to the government’s announcement that it had shut down 717 such shops, he said a reply to a query under the Right to Information (RTI) Act had raised doubts about the claim.
