Tech firm director held over 2022 Jharkhand paper leak from Mumbai; deadlock hardens

RANCHI: Police arrested the director of a private agency in Mumbai on Monday for his alleged involvement in the 2022 Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) junior engineer recruitment examination paper leak case.The examination, conducted on July 3, 2022, was meant to fill 1,279 junior engineer (diploma) posts. Allegations that the question paper had been leaked and the answer key circulated surfaced before the first shift began, prompting the JSSC to cancel the examination.The accused, Arun Kumar, is a director of New Delhi-based Bynsis Technology Private Limited, the agency that conducted the examination. Arun, a native of Bihar’s Nalanda district, was remanded in judicial custody following his arrest.Police said the investigation began after candidate Mithlesh Kumar Mahto lodged a written complaint at Namkum police station on July 14, 2022. A special investigation team (SIT) was subsequently constituted to investigate the alleged leak.“During the investigation, the SIT found evidence indicating the involvement of the private agency and its operators in the paper leak conspiracy,” police said in a statement on Tuesday.The SIT had earlier arrested five people for their alleged involvement in the case: Ranjeet Mandal, Deepak Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Deepak Srivastav and Krishna Kumar, a senior manager at Bynsis Technology Private Limited.Stay updated with the latest Ranchi news.
