The inaugural Sā Ladakh Biennale is launching in the high-altitude region of Ladakh, India, featuring site-specific art installations made from natural materials. The event emphasizes a non-commercial, trek-based experience that integrates art with the local landscape and community.
Art rarely stays within gallery walls in Ladakh. This August, it will be spreading across mountains, villages and open landscapes as the region hosts the inaugural Sā Ladakh Biennale (from the Ladakhi word sā , meaning soil). Titled Signals from Another Star , and positioned as the world’s highest regenerative art biennale (at 3,000 m above sea level), it will bring together 26 Ladakhi and international artists.
