Ryan Fox is a major champion. Fox overtook Cameron Young down the stretch to stun the field at Royal Birkdale on Sunday afternoon and claim the first major championship of his career. Fox posted a 2-under 68 in his final round, and birdied the 18th to secure his victory. He ended up finishing alone in third at 8-under after his 2-over 72. That opened the door for the rest of the field, starting with Young — who carded an early 6-under 64 to jump into the lead early. Young was sitting in the clubhouse for more than two hours as the rest of the field tried to overtake him.Eventually, Fox did just that. Fox, who was only in that spot after his record-tying 62 on Saturday, made four birdies in his final six holes to get it done and claim the Claret Jug for his life-changing win.Fox, a 39-year-old from New Zealand, has won twice on the PGA Tour in his career. He picked up his inaugural win at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic last year, and then backed it up later that season at the RBC Canadian Open.
