UK weather maps show next 36C heatwave starts in July

Brits look set to welcome another wave of extreme heat as temperatures are set to surpass those felt in Greece in a handful of areas. The hot spell should start at the end of July and carry on into August, with the Met Office warning that conditions could turn “very warm again by the start of August”. Weather maps show temperatures climbing next week on Wednesday as some areas are forecast for a whopping 36C. This is hotter than the majority of areas in Greece, only reaching 35C, and will feel sweltering for many Brits. Greater London Surrey Berkshire Buckinghamshire Although not quite surpassing the Mediterranean heat, several other areas will also climb to the mid thirties. Places near the coast in Sussex are also likely to reach 35C, as further north Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire could also see 35C. If temperature do reach these highs it is likely chaos will erupt across the nation again, with service delays across transport and health departments. Most areas across England are likely to sit above 30C. In Yorkshire the temperature is forecast to reach 30C, whereas in Greater Manchester the map predicts it could reach 31C. If these temperatures continue, an official heatwave will occur. A heatwave is a prolonged period of excessively hot and humid weather, lasting for three or more days typically. It is defined relative to the normal climate of a specific location, meaning a temperature that is standard in one region can be considered a heatwave in another. The Met Office forecast for this period says: "A changeable period is likely overall, with many areas likely to see a mixture of bright or sunny spells and some rain at times. "Temperatures will be near or above normal, warmest in the south, and perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August."
