WHO releases implementation FAQs to accelerate uptake of new TB diagnostic recommendations
The World Health Organization has released new implementation FAQs to help countries adopt updated TB diagnostic strategies. These guidelines focus on near point-of-care testing, tongue swabs, and sputum pooling, following a regional workshop in Ethiopia.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a new set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to support countries in implementing its latest recommendations on near point-of-care testing, tongue swab-based testing and sputum pooling strategies for TB diagnosis . The FAQs were developed in response to discussions and questions raised during the regional workshop “Accelerating Progress Towards Ending TB in the African Region” , jointly organized by WHO and KNCV in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 23–25 June 2026, with support from Unitaid and the Global Fund.
