Woman injured during CJP's Parliament march taken off ventilator; responding to treatment
A 21-year-old woman injured during a political protest in New Delhi has been taken off a ventilator and is showing signs of recovery. She was hospitalized following police action during a 'Sansad Chalo' march organized by the Cockroach Janta Party.
NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old woman who was critically injured during the police action at the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on July 20 has been taken off ventilator support and is showing signs of recovery, doctors at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital said on Wednesday.The woman, identified as Sakshi, a resident of Chhattarpur Extension, is now conscious, breathing on her own and responding appropriately to commands, hospital authorities said.Sakshi had sustained injuries to her face, chest and neck during the protest and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).She had attended the demonstration on Monday along with her cousin, who also suffered a leg injury.According to hospital authorities, MRI scans of Sakshi’s brain and spine have returned normal results.Doctors said her condition has been steadily improving since treatment began and that she continues to receive comprehensive medical care under the close supervision of the medical team.Hospital authorities added that Sakshi is currently the only patient admitted to RML Hospital in connection with the incident and is being provided continuous monitoring and all necessary treatment.The protest, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), saw thousands of demonstrators march towards Parliament, demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak.Police used tear gas shells and resorted to lathi-charge after protesters breached security barricades near Jantar Mantar.(With PTI inputs)Get the latest City News and Live updates.
