MANGALURU: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by a man near the KSRTC New Bus Stand at BC Road in Bantwal on Thursday evening in a suspected case of one-sided love, police said.The accused allegedly attacked the woman with a sharp weapon at around 6pm while she was waiting for a bus before fleeing the scene.The victim was identified as Lavanya, 21, a resident of Uli village in Bantwal, while the accused was identified as Chetan, 22, a resident of Belthangady.According to the police, Lavanya was rushed to the Bantwal Government Hospital, where doctors, after examining her, declared her brought dead.Preliminary investigation revealed that Chetan was a distant relative of the victim and was allegedly in one-sided love with her.A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused, who remains absconding.
