How Dive Deeper Decides What Gets Cited
Every claim in a Dive Deeper report points back to a specific source. Here is how the system decides which sources back which sentences.

Grounded, not guessed
Dive Deeper does not write a report and then look for sources to justify it afterward. The AI is instructed to draw every paragraph, statistic, and quote directly from the ranked source material, and to attach the source numbers that actually support each piece as it writes.
Citations are checked, not trusted blindly
After the AI generates a report, Headlinne validates every citation reference against the real list of ranked sources. Any citation pointing to a source that was not actually part of the research corpus is discarded rather than shown to you.
Multiple citations per paragraph are normal
A single paragraph often synthesizes information from more than one source — Dive Deeper supports multiple citation numbers on one paragraph rather than forcing every sentence to have exactly one source.
What happens when the material does not support a claim
If the retrieved sources genuinely do not cover something, Dive Deeper is built to leave it out rather than invent it — an incomplete report is treated as far better than a confidently wrong one.
Key takeaways
- ✓Every claim in a report is written from the ranked sources, with citation numbers attached as it is generated.
- ✓Citations are validated afterward — any reference to a source outside the real research corpus is dropped.
- ✓A paragraph can carry multiple citations when it draws on more than one source.
Frequently asked questions
Can the AI cite a source it never actually used?
No — every citation is checked against the actual list of ranked sources after generation. References that do not match a real source in that session are removed before you see the report.
