What Happens When Live Web Search Isn't Available

Live web search can occasionally be slow or temporarily unavailable. Here is how Dive Deeper degrades gracefully instead of failing.

A dependency that is never allowed to break the feature

Live web search relies on a third-party service that can occasionally be slow, rate-limited, or briefly unavailable. Dive Deeper is built so that none of those situations prevent you from getting a report.

Falling back to Headlinne-only research

If the web search path times out or fails, Dive Deeper simply proceeds with whatever it already gathered from Headlinne's own database. The report still generates — it just draws exclusively from Headlinne coverage for that session.

You are told when this happens

A report built without live web results is clearly labeled "Headlinne-only" in the interface, so you always know whether a dive drew on the open web or stayed within Headlinne's own archive.

Retries and multiple providers

Before falling back, Dive Deeper retries transient failures and, where possible, tries alternate ways of reaching a working search provider — the Headlinne-only fallback is a last resort, not the first response to any hiccup.

Key takeaways

  • A slow or unavailable web search never blocks a Dive Deeper report from completing.
  • When it happens, the report falls back to Headlinne's own coverage only.
  • A "Headlinne-only" label tells you exactly when this fallback was used.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Headlinne-only report count against my daily limit the same way?

Yes — it still uses one of your Dive Deeper sessions for the day, since you receive a complete, useful research report either way, just sourced entirely from Headlinne's own coverage.
